Great design, and styling. The fit and finish leaves a bit to be desired. The blade grind is incredible, and slices with ease. The lock is a bit hard to disengage. The fuller allows you to flick it open, which is nice since the flipper tab is completely useless (one main reason I bought this knife). It's everything it should be and it's saying it is. Great action, nice feel, and good worker. Don't expect custom knife fit and finish but it's still superb.

Out of the box the look of this knife is comparable to a much much more expensive knife in my opinion. The overall look is very traditional with some nice modern touches that look really good. The dark micarta combined with the carbon fiber scale is so good because the carbon fiber looks more like an accent that compliments the micarta rather than obnoxious like it could look with… read more a light colored scale. The blade shape is a nice clip point that reminds you of a traditional slip joint folder. The blade has a fuller on it that is grippy to be used as a nail nick for less scary opening option, this adds to the traditional look. The blade is well finished with a great front flipper tab that is nicely jimped and just grabby enough. The action is great and the blade flies open. The pocket clip is one of the best I have seen, deep carry, great look, good retention, recessed screws and attachment, smooth in and out of the pocket. The back spacer is beautiful, especially the way the lanyard hole is incorporated into it. The knife is well deburred all around and feels great in the hand in every grip. The design flaw is the way the micarta and carbon fiber scales are used in this knife. They come together to make a seemingly seamless single scale. However, the joint between the two is right over the area where the lock bar is actuated with your finger. This area on the scale will invariably see some bending when you use the lock bar. My scale has now cracked and the carbon and micarta are pretty separated from each other in this region and along the lock bar side scale in general. I'd love to see this knife with a single piece of that beautiful dark micarta. Unfortunately, the bolstered look would be eliminated.

Material and workmanship is a real bang for the buck. The only problem is unfortunately a big disappointment. The flipper jimping. This is my first front flipper purchase and it is a gift. The jimping is so light that opening the knife in front flipper fashion takes quite a bit of wrist flick and practice. The nail nick is nice, but I cant spidey flick. Not sure if it was supposed… read more to. If the jimping were deeper, the action would be awesome. With better jimping I would have given 5 stars.

If you like an easy opening front flipper and a beautiful design, then this knife is for you. Light weight, with a deep carry clip, the Drifter 2 does not disappoint. The micarta is as pleasing as the blade shape.

This knife is smoother than my 940 it is also freaking sharp. If you buy this you could throw away your shaving razors.
