EDC Love!!!
I've replaced my Elementum with the Pintail, and couldn't be happier about it...better steel & better micarta, dual deployment options, and about the same size. Definitely worth the small premium over the Elementum. Perfect EDC.
Excellent model from Civivi
If you know what modern Damascus steel is, you will be very pleased with this knife. If you don't, you might do a bit of research beforehand to help you understand what to expect from this very nice material on this great pattern.
Goldilocks knife, great value
This is a bit of a Goldilocks knife. The CPM-S35VN steel is I believe the highest grade offered by CIVIVI. Action feels solid and satisfying, light enough that you forget it's in your pocket, yet still big enough to provide a very comfy grip. Handle has a slightly rounded profile and just enough thickness. The material feels great without being flashy. I think this is actually a… read more better knife than the Elementum on all counts. The blade shape is functional and handsome. I actually prefer this design to most WE knifes which tend to look a little overly stylized IMO. For under $100 this has to be one of the best value options for EDC.
Fake Damascus
Bought this knife thinking it would be made with real Damascus steel by it's just your run of the mill high carbon steel laser edged to look like a raindrop pattern Damascus please don't make the same mistake as me and buy this unless your okay with it being fake Damascus
My first Civivi!
I heard such good things about civivi that I had to pick one up! I love everything about the knife, the micarta scales, the blade steel, and the action is amazing! 10/10
Love this knife
What a great knife! My favorite part is rubbing my fingers on the smooth canvas micarta scales and it just fits perfectly in the hand and flicks open as smooth as butter. For the price it looks and feels like a much more expensive knife.. I'll be buying more Civiv in the future.
Almost - but not the black stonewashed blade
Just got this, and it's almost perfect. Very sharp, love S35. Silky smooth as expected from Civivi. I like that there is a cutout to access the liner lock, unlick the Pilar I just got. No lock stick, easy to deploy either way (stud or flipper).
Micarta looks great, but as others noted it has a different feel. On my Feldspar, I feel more of the resin (I think). This has a…

brushed finish, so I think I feel more of the canvas (or whatever the base material is for micarta). Rubbing a finger on it, it feels slicker. But when holding the knife for work, it provides plenty of grip.
My only negative is the black stonewashed blade. I thought it would be similar to the black blade on my Griptilian, but it's not. Seems more like a phosphate finish, so it shows everything and always looks smudged. I'm experimenting with cleaning and treatments to remedy this. My recommendation would be go with the satin finished blade, and this would be the perfect EDC.
Terrific bargain
Beautiful raindrop damascus blade. Sharpest knife out of the box that I have ever purchased, and it has retained that edge through daily use for over a month. Overall, this is a very good knife at a very good price which makes it a terrific bargain in today’s market.
I finally got a Pintail. Wow.
I got my first CIVIVI and it was the Pintail. Dang. The first flip revealed what all the hype is about. About fifty fidgets later and the blade began to articulate with the buttery smoothness that everyone raves about. I am a believer...to the dismay of my wallet.
The S35VN is very thin and sliced an orange, cheese and cardboard (in that order) with ease, out of the box.…

The black stonewash coating mixed with the dark green Micarta looks fantastic! (Is it me but does BladeHQ call everything stone wash, even if it’s bead blasted or satin?)
I picked the Pintail over the Elementum for the ergonomic shape and the flexibility of the thumb studs and in hand, I’m happy that I did.
Speaking of the Micarta, this is my one disappointment, it looks great but it’s very smooth. It’s as smooth as carbon fiber thus not as grippy as I had hoped. This fact makes me even happier that I got the Pintail shape with the added finger notch.
If you don’t have a CIVIVI, get one. You want one. You need one. If you have an Elementum, you will like having a Pintail, too.
Okay, time to wrap this up so I can search the site for my next CIVIVI...
Just Look At It
I love looking at this knife. It is gorgeous! Great fit and finish. Action is smooth. Stop looking and get one for yourself.
Don't wait! buy this knife immediately!!!
incredible quality! Civivi has been producing knives that beat most knives worth hundreds of dollars. can't wait till Civivi produces different variations like the elementum has. If you're on the edge, buy it, you won't regret it.
Fantastic
Great knife. For the price its unbeatable. Centering, detent, edge, and fit and finish are very good.
Top of the line quality
Perfect knife, great price.
Civivi outdoes themselves again!
This Pintail is giving my Elementums a run for their money. Damascus blade, wood handle, great ergos, great fit & finish, perfect action, beautiful design, and functional blade shape. Its got everything for a very reasonable price.
If I had to make a criticism, it would be that the damascus pattern is a little busy and could be toned down to better go with the wood grain…

pattern, though they did a good job with darkening the overall finish so it doesn't stand out as much as it could.
But this one is gonna have a place in my pocket for a very long time. Love it.
Affordable WE Knife
I wanted a knife like my Elementum but with better ergonomics. This is an excellent slicer and fits medium to small hands beautifully, with nicely contoured micarta. The action is superb and the materials are very good, the micarta is smooth but more resistant to stains. The Pintail is a perfect EDC.
