Best Whittling EDC Yet
Bought this one on sale recently and so glad I did! This is the best knife I found that can not only whittle wood well, but also makes a good EDC with a great pocket clip. The lanyard hole is also big enough for a paracord lanyard because some of the recent knives do not. The only gripe is that the thumbstud can take some getting used to.
Bad liner lock, sluggish action.
Inspired by good reviews, I first purchased my first example of this knife last year. The liner lock was barely responsive, and would not engage unless considerable force was applied, so I returned it. Remembering the nice scales and perfectly ground blade, I tried again this month. A marginal improvement, in that the lock actually engages, but it covers barely 5% of the blade base… read more -- hardly robust, or reassuring. Also, the blade travel is more sticky than smooth. I'll keep it, but it will almost certainly live unused in the drawer.
More than expected!
Fit and finish on mine is amazing. Blade is ground well and the action is incredibly smooth. I got this because I was craving a more traditional knife and I'm not a fan of slip joints. What I got is honestly an overall fantastic EDC blade. It's a little on the heavy side, but I'd buy again without hesitation.
Solid as Rock
Purchased as pre-order directly from Smith & Sons, was first in line for original release of these knives. Materials, good to very good. Craftsmanship/workmanship, very good to excellent. Some may consider it a little heavy with the solid steel back spacer, however, the knife just feels solid as a rock in the hand. Bought 2 of them, lock up is early and also just solid as a submarine… read more hatch. NICE utility EDC and great overall value. Worth every penny.
